\nSol y Café (previously known as CEPICAFE) is an association of nearly 40 small-scale coffee cooperativess in northwestern Peru. The cooperative aims to improve the quality of life of coffee growing families and contribute to the sustainable development of the region. With proceeds from the Fair Trade price, the cooperative has been able to new processing equipment including four wet processing plants and more than 400 de-pulpers. They are able to offer technical assistance training for it’s members in organic cultivation and quality control techniques, coffee production and business management skills. Using funds, the cooperative was able to build themselves an office headquarters, complete with warehouse, office space, and a café. They’ve build community centers for several municipalities. Provide financial assistance and pre-harvest credit programs are available to producers as is financing for home construction and improvements.
