Productive projects in Colombia currently have several forms. One of them are the “umbrellas”, which is a group of associations that unite to share certification processes, internal control and administrative equipment, seeking to be more efficient and to give smaller groups the possibility of transparent commercialization of their coffees. An example of this scheme is Multicoop, which groups together various producer associations in the south of Tolima. Multicoop associates various groups conformed by women that were chosen for their dedication to the field, who see in coffee a wonderful opportunity to create and develop a life project not only for themselves and their families, but also for the entire community. A community that has been affected for years by the violence generated by the presence of some groups outside the law.
